Overview

The forst question you might ask yourself is 'what is a demo all about?'. Well for starters it is a short demonstration, but not in the context we normally associate with the term. This demonstration is not to exhibit a product or a program, nor is it to tell a narrative. Rather it is a short demostration of artistic tastes and technical skills via 3D representation. Inparticular it is aimed to illustrate how abstract data can be used to help construct an artistic visualisation.

This demo is aimed at using a variety of techniques to produce a visually engaging demo. The main instrument is the use of the 3D authoring environment VirTools, which is used to compose and render the visual representations. The demo also integrates a musical track that complements the onscreen visuals. The integration of visual and sonic elements is consequently extremely important to creating a coherent and interesting demo.

Now while this may sound like simply creating something similar to a visual plugin for a music player, it actually has a vast amount of theory behind the design. To create a successful demo it must be capable of running without problems in realtime on a variety of hardware. To accomplish this the demo must be capable of efficiently managing aspects such as memory usage, cpu load, and data acquisition.
