OVERVIEW

The objective of infodevice 2008 is to create a physical device that “informs” and “persuade” people to change their behaviour in the context of a sustainable topic within the everyday home context. The project proposal of my device focused on the refrigerator for energy saving. The colour egg timer persuades people to minimise the opening time of their fridge. When the fridge door is opened, the cooled air escapes outside up to 30 per cent. If the fridge door is open for a minute, it will take three minutes for it to regain its temperature. Unnecessary door opening will certainly raise the electric power usage. The device is designed to encourage people to save both energy and money.
