Feedback
The prototype was shown to potential users to explain how the game worked and demonstrate the layout of Tetro Tetrii. I then asked potential users some questions to receive feedback on Tetro Tetrii.
Feedback on the game goals
All of the questioned potential users said they definitely preferred a multiplayer tetris game rather than playing by themself because it was much more fun. Most of the potential users were interested in meeting new people online and one person said it was because 'it makes gaming experience more enjoyable.' A few people said that they wouldn't mind as long as other online people were nice and not 'strange'.
Most of the potential users said the game sounded 'fun' and would be played for leisure. One person said it was challenging but would be enjoyable when playing with friends. Another user said the game would make them want to continuously play it to get more fake money, best items, etc.
Overall feedback on the game goals encourages my design idea since Tetro Tetrii is focused on creating a online community with users playing tetris against each other. The feedback shows most potential users would be willing to play a multiplayer tetris game and meet new people online. To avoid 'strange' and rude people I think I should some how add a filter that blocks profanity through the microphone.
Feedback on the prototype
Most of the potential users said the prototype was user friendly and easy to navigate. One person said the menu buttons were available on the side and therefore made everything available in a few clicks. Another person said there was 'maybe too much info in one little window.'
The prototype was described as nice and clean by potential users. One person said it was simple and a litle plain. This person also said the iframe looked tiny in their computer resolution (1280 by 1024). One person questioned how text would be entered using the iPhone.
The navigation in my prototype is logical enough and wouldn't need much improvements. Maybe having a logout link on the side bar would allow logging out quicker. The prototype could be improved by maybe making it bigger so that information wouldn't look crowded? To solve the entering text problem I think i'll have to some how use the keyboard on the iPhone.
Feedback on the game play
I asked potential users whether the side arrows should remain optional, or take them off so that the user will have to rotate the iPhone at the right time to have the block in a certain position. All of the questioned potential users said the side arrows should remain. One person said that it would make the game go fast, 'thus more challenging.'
Potential users were then asked whether the double sided tetris game sounded too hard. Some people said it sounded abit hard but it was intriguing and would make the game more challenging. A few other potential users said no and one person said it sounded 'fairly simple'. One person said it gave them a headache trying to understand how to play.
The double sided tetris feature appears acceptable enough however I'll need to explain game instructions in a way so that it can be easily understood.
Suggestions
Potential users were then asked to give any ideas if they had any. This was an optional question.
One person suggested that the avatar had stats such as defence to provide protection against bombs or an item that allows you to reduce the amount of gappy lines produced. This person also suggested different types of bombs such as ones that make your opponent's blocks fall faster for a while or a bomb that makes the opponent's directions go in reverse. He also suggested that clearing a line of same coloured blocks should give more points or fake money.
Another person suggested clearance mine items such as one way clearance mines where the blocks on one side of your tetris screen become cleared. There would also be a 50% clearance mine where it only cleared half of the blocks on one side.
